Giving back
Built on reciprocity
4.44% of every dollar you pay websites with bootsy is set aside for Indigenous-led work here in Bellingham.
I live and work on the homelands of the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Indian Tribe, Coast Salish peoples who have cared for this place since time immemorial. Making a living here comes with a responsibility to give back. Not charity. Reciprocity.
How it works
- It comes off the top. 4.44% of what you pay for my services, before expenses and before I pay myself. Pay $1,000, and $44.44 goes into the fund.
- Only what's mine. Pass-through costs, like a domain you pay me back for, aren't counted.
- No strings. Gifts go to Indigenous-led organizations, unrestricted, so the people doing the work decide how it's used.
- Out in the open. Each year I'll post what came in and where it went.
Why 4.44%?
Four is my number for foundations. It reminds me that this business rests on land, and on people who were here first.
This doesn't fix history. It's a small, steady way of showing up.
